04. Andrea Bailey
Accountant | Finance
Precious: Tell us about the route to your present position.
Between 1987 and 1992 I was studying to get qualifications that included AAT (Association of Technicians) an accounting qualification. From 1990-1994 I also worked at Securicor. Upon leaving there I spent 2 and half years at a finance company called Admiral.
In 1996 I joined Tower Records and was based at the Piccadilly Circus branch, and stayed there for about a year and a half. After this I took some time out and went to Australia for six months, which was wonderful.
On my return I went to live in my hometown of Birmingham and found another accountancy role at Railtrack. I moved back to London earlier this year and I've been with CMB for about a month now.
Precious: Describe a typical working day.
As I have only recently joined CMB so there is no typical day as yet. But my role is to run the accounts department of the company as a small business. Thus at this time of the month I will be involved in closing the accounts of the month, calculating overhead costs and any adverse expenditure and VAT reporting. I'm also responsible for supervising the sales/purchase/ledger staff.

Precious: Ambition?
To run my own business.
Precious: How do you do to relax?
I love yoga, reading and going out.
Precious: Any advice to those who wish to follow in your footsteps?
Get qualified ASAP and be confident in your abilities. Don't be afraid to ask questions or admit failure when you have to.
