AFRUCA – Africans Unite Against Child Abuse is the premier charity promoting
the rights and welfare of African children in the UK. We are advertising
two job openings in our London Office:
FAMILY OUTREACH WORKER
Starting Salary £25,000 plus 6% pension contribution
(one year initial contract)
Our Child Protection Training for African Parents in London project is a
five year project working with parents in four local authorities across London
to develop positive parenting skills and enhance their knowledge of the indicators
of child abuse so children can be better protected from abuse and harm. We
are looking for a Family Outreach Worker to manage this project.
With five year's experience of community outreach work, you must have a strong
commitment to the rights and welfare of children. You must be a self starter,
able to work on your own initiative while delivering impressive results.
You must be a good communicator, with excellent written, oral as well as
presentation skills. You must have a sound knowledge and awareness of the
socio-economic as well as demographic issues faced by newly arrived African
families in the UK and a strong understanding of the implications of these
for child protection and safeguarding. You must be enthusiastic, able to
take on a key role in a small but dynamic organization.

CHILD TRAFFICKING OFFICER
Salary £26,000, plus 6% pension contribution (pro rata 21 hours per week)
(one year initial contract)
Our Safeguarding Victims of Child Trafficking in London project is aimed
at strengthening our ongoing provision of support to young Africans (12-21
years) who have been abused through trafficking for sexual exploitation and
domestic servitude in London and the South East. We are looking for a Child
Trafficking Officer to manage this project. Their key role will be the provision
of practical support and assistance to young survivors of trafficking as
well as conducting awareness raising activities on child trafficking within
the London African community.
With at least 3 years experience of working with vulnerable young people,
you must have a strong commitment to the rights and welfare of children and
young people, a sound understanding of child trafficking and exploitation
issues in the UK and in Africa and the impact on victims. You must be a self
starter, able to work on your own initiative while delivering impressive
results. You must be a good communicator, with excellent written, oral as
well as presentation skills. You must have at least 2 years experience of
outreach work in the African community sector. As our Child Trafficking Officer,
you will champion AFRUCA's role of combating the trafficking of African children
and young people and in providing support to those who approach us for help.

All AFRUCA staff are required to undergo a National
Records Bureau enhanced disclosure to confirm their suitability working
for a children's charity.
