Editorial Guidelines for Writers

Precious Online is the online lifestyle magazine geared toward the needs of women of colour in the UK and internationally.

Precious offers news and features, career, fashion and wellbeing articles.

Our articles cover first person, opinion, practical advice and "how-to" articles to help its readers achieve career goals, coverage of international, national and local arts and cultural events, profiles of musicians, actors, music and book reviews, news, trends, professional event happenings, colourful and informative pieces on women in business and in their careers.

Reportage

Submissions should be timely, investigative and written in straight news style. Photos are greatly appreciated. Most stories are approximately 600 words in length.

Features

Feature articles should be between 7-800 words in length. Please supply images (jpg,tif,gif) or information as to where photos can be obtained.

Instructions

All articles should be spell-checked and edited by the writer for grammar and errors. A list of cited sources (including source name, and contact details) is required. Keep sentences brief and to the point. Precious uses the active voice in all articles and quotes are kept in the past tense (e.g. "said"). Please do not double space between sentences. Text should be broken up with subheads as needed. Writers are encouraged to supply sample headlines.

Images

All images should be 72 ppi for online contributions and 300 dpi for print contributions. Please contact the editor if there is an issue with images.

All submitted materials are subject to editing.
